It's time for the Flu Shot!
Influenza can cause mild to severe illness in infected persons. Young children, the elderly and those with underlying health conditions such as lung disease, kidney disease, heart disease, cancers, diabetes are among some conditions that can increase risk of serious illness.
Influenza can cause symptoms such as fever, upper respiratory symptoms, headache, body aches, cough, nausea and vomiting. In those that are vulnerable with existing medical conditions these can progress to pneumonia and even death.
This year in particular we are in the midst of a pandemic that has already infected millions of Americans and claimed many lives. This year, it is even more important that we make sure and get our flu shots. Equally important is to continue proper hand hygiene, wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

A: Flu shots are avilable at pharmacies, and many doctors office.
Q: When should I get a flu shot?
A: The flu shot is available now, however it may be worth waiting until mid-Oct to recieve your flu shot, as it will cover you through the end of the flu season.
Q: Does the flu shot cause the flu?
A: No, it does not cause the flu, however it may cause some minor symptoms such as body aches for one or two dates.
